December CD Release

We Sure Are Hot For Two Cold People; There's a Fire in My Snow Pants

This month's compilation is filled with obscure little gems and may, again like last month's, not have a clear favorite. Thee More Shallows' song, Night at the Knight School, may however have a good chance of rising above. The strength of most of this month's songs are found in their lyrics, "polly pocket shoots off her head," "I'd like to pay some other girl to just walk up to her and hit her," and the lyrics that inspired this month's title, "we sure are cute for two ugly people" and "there's a fire in my jeans" (we must keep the fire burning, whether it's in the taco bell or in someone's pants).

Tracklist:

1. Anyone Else But You - The Moldy Peaches
2. Night at the Knight School - Thee More Shallows
3. I Will Wander - The Features
4. When You Were a Millionaire - The Eames Era
5. Jacket - David Vendervelde
6. Polly Pocket Says Goodbye - Miranda Gjerstad
7. If You Find Love - Naked and the Boys
8. Ghetto Ways - Scissors for Lefty
9. Saving Myself - Identity #1
10. Pushing the Shine - Lovedrug
11. She's a Rejector - Of Montreal
12. Little People - The Grates
13. Absorb the Lip Gloss - The Hood Internet
14. Tonight Party - Trabant
15. Madelin - frYars
16. Fake Your Death - Orion Domisse
17. Creepy Addicts - Coal Beautiere
18. Plus Ones - Okkervil River
19. Electric Bird - Sia
20. Let the Burden Be Mine - Coyote Bones

Bonus Tracks
21. Pink High Heels - Melanie Horsnell
22. Bonafied Lovin' (Chromeo Remix) - The Teenagers

ChipperDemon's Got the Ear and CD Release Delay

Robin Hilton, producer of NPR's All Songs Considered, compiled a top 10 list of, "Musicians whose remarkable recordings went largely overlooked in 2007." While ChipperDemon will not be announcing Le Loup, Fear Not (September ChipperDemon release) from Le Loup's 2007 album, Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations’ Millennium General Assembly, as the number one song of the year, Robin Hilton named it the number one unknown album.

In addition, included in the running for best album of year for the Plug Independent Music Awards is Band of Horses - Cease to Begin (October), Beirut - The Flying Club Cup (July), Justice -
† (September), Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? (Will be appearing in December's compilation), and Radiohead - In Rainbows (October). 5 out of the 12 albums being considered for the award have been featured by ChipperDemon's monthly compilations. 3 of the 12 being considered for the New Artist of the Year awards are Justice (September), Los Campesinos (November), and Vampire Weekend (November).

New York Times rated M.I.A.'s Paper Planes (September) as a top song of the year. They also placed Radiohead's In Rainbows as the top album of the year, followed by Feist's Reminder (July) as number 2 and Iron and Wine's The Shepherd's Dog (September) at number 4. Where as in Rolling Stones' award list, M.I.A. made the number one album of the year and Radiohead came in 6th, Rilo Kiley in 8th (August), White Stripes in 17th (September), Kings of Leon 31st(August), Feist in 35th, Of Montreal in 41st, Band of Horses in 47th and an honorable mention to Britney Spears making the 50th place in Rolling Stones' top 50 albums of the year.

Overall, ChipperDemon is proud that it's got a good ear. In one way it could be seen that ChipperDemon is just as susceptible to mass music influence while at the same time, ChipperDemon still has many songs and artists that were not mentioned on any mega list. Soko, for instance, will certainly not even make it to NPR's greatly overlooked artists.

Also, the December Compilation shall be released Monday the 31st due to the Holidays along with ChipperDemon's best of 2007 CD that will feature songs from the whole year and not just the past 6 months.

Record Voter Turnout and Books

The ChipperDemon for the first time has reached five votes in the October poll.

Soon, ChipperDemon will take on a new medium to add to the monthly tradition and on every second Wednesday of the month a new book will be chosen to be read and then discussed the following second Wednesday of the month. The first book chosen to be read and completed for discussion will be No Country For Old Men for January 9th. The ChipperDemon is very excited about this new addition and is looking forward to the broadening of popular mediums featured.

November CD Release

I Will Never Love You More Than Singing In The Shower, So If You Don't Want To Party Your Ass Got To Go.

The November CD release was celebrated in perhaps the best style of any of the releases. The Other Side accommodated the release to quite an extent and played the CD so that all attendees could enjoy it while also being served what seemed an endless supply of New Castles.

This month's compilation (title compliments of Soko's newest myspace release, I Will Never Love You More and the Rob Zombie and DMX mix, Frog the Dawg, with the chorus line, If you don't want to party, your ass got to go) was produced with a completely new style. Instead of being compiled of all new music found upon a hunger search, it was all found by letting the music come through listening to streaming audio... ChipperDemon is not thrilled with the result but is willing to give it some time to give a thorough analysis.

Track list as follows:

1. Napoleon Says - Phoenix
2. Saint John - Cold War Kids
3. Breakfast in America (Supertramp Cover) - Ian Ball
4. Little Miss Pipedream - Wombats
5. Up the Long Tracks - Beatbeat Whisper
6. Love is Colder Than Death - The Virgins
7. Electric Feel - MGMT
8. Emo Phillips - Arrah and the Ferns
9. Never Be Alone - Justice vs. Simian
10. The Pleasure is Mine - Plastic Operator
11. Sometimes You Have to Work on Christmas
12. Holding All the Globes - BOAT
13. Bridges and Ballons - Joanna Newsom
14. Moving to New York - Wombats
15. Oxford Comma - Vampire Weekend
16. We Throw Parties, You Know Knives - Los Campesinos
17. Lulu - Beatbeat Whisper
18. Is That All There Is? - Christina

October CD Release

Do you want your shirt back?

Muahahaha. October's CD (Do You Want Your Shirt Back?) was released on two thousand and seven's Halloween and showed very little acknowledgment to the holiday. While this month's compilation lacked less attention than all other mixes it still triumphs with a more subtle approach. The CD is filled with songs that play easily while on a long drive and then find themselves playing in one's head rather than the songs that had popped out and demanded devotion upon the first listen that was seen on September's mix such as Acceptable In the 80s by Calvin Harris or Merry Happy by Kate Nash. The CD features a couple tracks from Radiohead's newest album, In Rainbows, and the head bopping single from Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip, The Beat That My Heart Skipped.

The tracks list as follows:

1. Knots - Pete & the Pirates
One of the best tracks of the month and rightfully begins the album

2. General Lafayette! You Are Not Alone - Ravens & Chimes
A strong track at first but after a few repetitions may loose its charm

3. Pop Music Is Not A Crime - Freezepop
Possibly the most talentless song on the album but the message is too good to ignore... thusly it is not.

4. Bouncing Off Clouds - Tori Amos
Tori Amos's recent album deserved attention long ago in August when the album was released yet for some reason none of the tracks were listened to till this month and her achievement is finally here recognized.

5. Those Dancing Days - Those Dancing Days
A funky little girl band that deserves credit just for being a funky girl band that can make your feet tap.

6. The Way I Am - Ingrid Michaelson
Practically every CD compilation thus far has somehow included a track that has been featured on a commercial and this track is solely included to continue this pattern.

7. The Beat That My Heart Skips - Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip
The best head bobbing, arm waving, heart pumping track.

8. Valerie (Featuring Amy Winehouse) - Mark Ronson
Not a very strong track yet holds importance for some reason that can't quite be explained just yet.

9. Bodysnatchers - Radiohead
The first Radiohead track to appear on the mix and definitely not the strongest.

10. White Shade - Lukestar
For its emo nature it surpasses by its sophisticated formulaic superbness.

11. The General Specific - Band of Horses
Catchy.

12. Hitten - Those Dancing Days
A funky girl band that is not just a funky girl band but a band with at least two successful tracks.

13. Hold It In - Jukebox the Ghost
Great track that also would have been good following "Knots" by Pete & the Pirates

14. Die Alone - Ingrid Michaelson
The message is great, her voice is beautiful and the music just makes it all so nice.

15. January - Ravens & Chimes
It's not quite January but there is only two more CDs to go before ChipperDemon celebrates its half year compilation event to be held at the end of December.

16. The Funeral - Band of Horses
Band of Horses came out with their album, Cease to Begin, this month featuring a few solid tracks, The Funeral being one of them.

17. All I Need - Radio Head
Was originally intended to be a bonus track yet just fit as a regular one. It is definitely good enough.

The November CD will release November 28th.

Cover Art: Smiling Satanist

September CD Release

I Created September

The third and monumental CD is one of ChipperDemon's most anticipated productions yet. While Alcohol August received mixed reviews ranging from unbeatable (for a junior compilation that is daunting) to no words out of kindness, I Created September certainly has something to prove. Featuring songs ranging from the artists Frank Black, Flight of the Conchords and the blog hot M.I.A. and Justice there is a lot to listen to.

The third compilation, not only proving the credibility of the Fourth Wednesday Series, has two new features. This month's CD includes two bonus tracks (a concept ChipperDemon finally accepted) and will feature Jubilant Pillager's partner in the ChipperDemon efforts, Smiling Satanist's cover art.

I Created September

1. The Humans Are Dead - The Flight of the Conchords
(The Distant Future - August 7th 2007)
They finished last month's CD why not start this one?

2. Acceptable in the 80s - Calvin Harris
(I Created Disco - Sept 4th 2007)
I was born in the 80s.

3. The Boys (Calvin Harris Remix) - Dragonette
(Take It Like A Man - July 2nd 2007)
We're making fun of the guy that wrote ChipperDemon's favorite album this month and inspired the title of this month's compilation.

4. Foundations - Kate Nash
(Made of Bricks - August 13th 2007)
Kind of a messed up song but that melody just gets ya

5. Icky Thump - White Stripes
(Icky Thump - June 19th 2007)
"You can't be a pimp and a prostitute too"? watch me.

6. Cancel On Me - Bombay Bicycle Club
(The Boy I Used to Be - March 30th 2007)
Don't ever even consider canceling on ChipperDemon

7. You Can't Break A Heart and Have It - Black Francis
(Bluefinger - September 11th 2007)
It's Frank Black!

8. A Good God - Cloud Cult
(The Meaning of 8 - April 10th 2007)
If I could build a cult around clouds I probably would

9. Merry Happy - Kate Nash
(Made of Bricks - August 13th 2007)
Yes, you are sensing another repeat artist on another CD compilation. we give props

10. Boy With A Coin - Iron & Wine
(The Shepard's Dog - September 25th 2007)
Pleasantly surprised by the new album

11. Le Loup (Fear Not) - Le Loup
(The Throne of the Third Heaven... - September 11th 2007)
One of the weaker songs of the compilation but still good

12. Lake Michigan - Rogue Wave
(Asleep at Heaven's Gate - September 18th 2007)
Another weak one but definitely enjoyable

13. DVNO - Justice
(Justice - July 10th 2007)
Justice has been talked about to an unfathomable degree among the "blogosphere" but most of the songs have great starts while the rest of the song fails or great choruses and the rest of the song fails. This is the first song that feels worthy of repeating over and over and doing a bit of a boogie.

14. Paper Planes - M.I.A
(Kala - August 21st 2007)
Much like Justice, M.I.A. has been getting a lot of attention yet most songs fail in some area. Paper planes, however, breaks that occurrence and just makes you stare with a confused look on your face while still bobbing you head. Don't ask what
the lyrics are, something about prepaid wireless?

15. Speak To Me Bones - Land of Talk
(Applause Cheer Boo Hiss - March 20th 2007)
Hell's yeah. Stop hitting on girls.

16. You Think We Suck - Ape Fight
(Ape Fight, Ape Fight - February 6th 2006)
Had to be included after watching the film "Accepted."

Bonus Tracks
Shit Song - Kate Nash
Icky Thump (Led Zeppelin Remix) - DJ Zebra

Compilation Director: Jubilant Pillager
Cover Art Designer: Smiling Satanist
Special thanks to ChipperDemon's benefactor's: Huska Plantation Enterprises, OrangeCoat and Afloat.

So far:
