March CD Release

Bowling for Blood

In honor of a series of serious bowling ventures and the film There Will Be Blood, March bares it's provocative title, Bowling for Blood. This month's compilation features a rather mind numbing quality, often anticipated for driving or sitting on a carpet and puzzling/maze solving/coloring with a few jems peaking over the steady melodic calmness. The CD starts with a kind of upbeat tempo getting one a little excited but then slows down with The Floor is Made of Lava and Dizzee Rascal interrupting the pace. While the beats don't really pump up the compilation they add a good contrast as the tracks quickly return to a slow pace. The CD finishes with it's usual two bonus tracks, one of which is a repeat artist and the other is a good smile inducer.

Overall, the CD has a lot of really great melodic tracks causing a bit of a too much of a good thing conundrum and will probably find itself hidden in the bottom of a glove compartment that always serves as a pleasant surprise.

Tracklist:

1. 5 Years Time - Noah & the Whale
Just one of those songs that hits the message right on the nose and leaving you with a kind of, "who cares about tomorrow? Let's enjoy today" feeling. It just makes you giddy and wishing you were meeting someone for the first time all over again.

2. Hang Them All - Tapes 'n' Tapes
A track that gets you jiggling a bit and ready to just downright boogie at the bridge and then the song falls short on the chorus but is still great to nod your head to, strongly.

3. Blinkandyou'llmissit! - Bo Pepper
Probably the best track on the CD with a catchy beat and unforgettable chorus. One of those chick tracks that a girl has got to jump to.

4. Life is Still Sweet - White Hassle
Highly necessary for a down day. Not a day when you need angry or somber sounds but a day when you need that little nudge.

5. Bodyguard - Dawn Landes
A female voice filling a bit of an absence of the feminine influence in the mix.

6. Gold Day - Sparklehorse
Just one really good chill track.

7. Spiders, Snakes - A Weather
A lyrically very strong chill track.

8. Vice (Saint Pauli RMX extended) - The Floor is Made of Lava
Dare you not to get excited.

9. Bells - The Boderick

10. Trouble - Voxtrot

11. Where Da G's (El-P Remix) - Dizzee Rascal
Sometimes people need to be put in their place and others need to just bob their head in agreement... All I hear is hype!

12. I Need You - Lionel Neykov

13. Everybody But Me - Lykke Li
For those days, those days...

14. Ages and Stages - The Meligrove Band

15. Ripchord - Rilo Kiley
Just a sweet melody.

16. I Won't Be Found - The Tallest Man on Earth

17. Cannot GEt Started - Handsome Furs

18. Sinai - Ghost Bees

Bonus Tracks
That's What I Like - Spottiswoode & His Friends
In the Sunshine - Lionel Neykov

The songs that took my poll are numbers 4, 12, and 15. Seriously, how can you beat a harmonica?

Other thoughts:
Best CD by far in that I will listen to it straight through without skipping any songs. It just seems wrong to miss the build ups.

The transition between Vice and Gold Day still leaves me in amazement, and I love how I get lulled to sleep with songs 6 & 7 only to be pleasantly surprised when Bells starts playing.

As of this moment in life, I am stuck on songs 14-16.

Overall, you have rejuvenated my love for March with this CD.
Good job.

A write in vote for "That's what I like" as well. Possibly the best song on the entire of the CD needs to be voted for.
